Brightwater Brits is a website dedicated to the love of these warm and affectionate cats.

     I have always been attracted to the roundness of a Brit.  Their round eyes, face, paws; their cobby body with stocky build and short legs.  Their plushy fur is better than the fluffiest stuffed animal.  Ease of grooming is also a big plus in my family of allergy-prone members.

     I got my first Brit about eight years ago.  Hastings was a lovely example of the archetypal British Shorthair.  She was blue with deep pumpkin colored eyes.  Unfortunately she was born with a genetic defect in her liver which required surgery and a lot of vet care.  None the less we loved her and babied her through all of her 8 years.  We unexpected lost her last year in July.  Desperately missing her, I bought another beautiful little Brit.  I purchased Hailey as a teenager with the intention of breeding her and starting my own cattery.

     Because of my experience with the continued care, expense, and heartbreak of a cat with a genetic defect, I will only sell perfect kitties who conform to the breed standard and who are perfectly healthy.  Every Brightwater Brit is sold with current shots and health certificate.
